The Canturo son Canturano will come to Berkenbroeck for the 2016 season. He will be offered to breeders with fresh semen and he will be presented at BWP Stallion Approvals. His offspring is popular at auctions and many top riders have a youngster by Canturano.

The Belgian family De Pelsmaeker acquired Cornetinus (Cornet's Balou x Argentinus) for 72.000 euro. Elton vh Exelhof (Elvis ter Putte) goes to Sweden for 52.000 and Cornet's Love for 42.000 euro to Poland.

Michael Whitaker has invested in the young stallion Arkino Z, son of Arko III. He bought the horse together with Scott Smith and Ken Rehill for sport and breeding. Arkino Z had already jumped at 1.40m level this year at the age of seven in France.

At CSI2* De Warre in Neeroeteren, Brecht Goossens wins the first Youngster Tour on the Nonstop gelding Jonas du Petit Vivier. This six-year-old was bred out of a mare by Perhaps van Berkenbroeck. The Arko III mare Jakarta Royale DS of Jan De Pauw placed third. This mare already placed fourth on the Belgian Championships in Gesves.

Great job from the Belgian rider Maarten Driessen in Lichtenvoorde. At this Dutch show, he placed second in the opening class and one day later he won the Big Tour of the CSIU25 competition. Both time he saddled the mare Happy Girl (Nonstop).

Gitano van Berkenbroeck almost won the gp of Milano. In the jump-off he made one mistake. Gitano and Juan-Carlos Garcia were one of thirteen pairs which jumped a clear round in the first round. In jump-off Gitano was the fastest horse with four points. He ended up in the same second as winner Roger-Yves Bost.

On Bonzai vd Warande, Juan Carlos Garcia won the 1.40m class on Sunday at Milano!

Kevin Gielen and the Nonstop-descendant It's Easy have won the first Youngster Final on the last outdoor show of the year in Oliva Nova. The horse is owned by its rider and Hank Melse. Eleven horses jumped double clear in this final.

Argento, one of the best horses of the world at this point, won another 1.50m class tonight in Los Angeles at the Grand Slam Masters. He beat Edwina Tops-Alexander and Daniel Deusser.

At the Service Auction of Fences, Gita Z (Gitano van Berkenbroeck) was the most expensive horse. It was sold for 36.000 to Russia.

Jakarta Royale DS and Jan De Pauw placed fourth in the six years old division. Kosmo Hof ter Boone ended up in seventh spot as a five year old. Both didn't touch a poal this week.

Linn Zakariasson won the small GP of Hasselt on UGAULIN DU BOSQUETIAU. Dominique Hendrickx placed sixth on Fiero van Orti (Nonstop).

Rolf Goran Bengtsson & Casall win the GCT in Londen after a jump-off with twelve horses. The Swedish rider finished eight hundredths of a second faster than John Whitaker on Argento (Arko III).

Ninkie de Vy Z (Nonstop) of Yves Vilain placed third overall in the Belgian circuit for seven year old horses.

Scott Brash is winning, again, but John Whitaker also grabbed a nice second place on Argento, the son of Arko III.

The Nonstop offspring Hawai Van Paemel jumped double clear in the GP of Defense at Duisburg. I brought this half sister of Cicero van Paemel Z on the second place in the national GP.

Nonstop is leading the standings of the Belgian Cyclus for young horses in the six-year-old division with Just in Time and Benny Naessens. This mare also won the circuit for five-year-olds last year after producing nine clear rounds. In the seven-year-olds Yves Vilain and Ninkie de Vy Z (Nonstop) are currently in third position after six stages on a total of nine.

The Arko son Aristio has won the 1.50m small GP in Lissabon. He was ridden by Anthony Condon. In Aachen Christian Ahlmann won the Youngster Cup on Casuality Z. A foal out of the same mother sired by Arko III, will be auctioned at the Flanders Foal Auction in Bonheiden on June 20.

John Whitaker and Argento (Arko III) have won the Nations Cup in Rome. They jumped double clear. Also Michael and John's son Robert Whitaker were part of the team.

The fifteen-year-old Nonstop offspring Abbervail & Amai keep performing. Michael Whitaker and Amai placed fourth in the GP of La Baule.

Big names on top in the GP 1.55m of Nörten Hardenberg, but the biggest name is the one of Abbervail vh Dingenshof (Nonstop). He wins another main class in his fifteenth year. Denis Lynch has beaten Marlon Zanotelli and Mario Stevens.

Thursday May 7 turned out to be a beautiful day for Berkenbroeck. Both Dior and Gitano van Berkenbroeck placed second, but in two different spots. Gitano jumped at CSIO Linz over 1.50m with Juan Carlos Garcia. In Slovakia, Samorin, Santiago Diaz Ortega ended up in second place on Dior van Berkenbroeck (Diamant De Semilly). They were jumping in the youngster competition for six-year-olds. In the seven-year-old division, Santiago placed fourth aboard It's Easy (Nonstop).

On the Italian tour of Riviera Horse Resort in San Giovanni Juan-Carlos Garcia has won the CSI3* GP with Gitano van Berkenbroeck (Nabab de Rêve) of Michel Spaas. He has beaten Germany, The Netherlands, Great-Britain and France.

Gitano Van Berkenbroeck placed sixth in the Italian Grand Prix of San Giovanni. He put in the second fastest time, but had one rail down in the second round. Gitano is ridden by Juan-Carlos Garcia.

Both stallions Gitano and Arko III have a newly approved son by BWP. There names: Marko van Spieveld and Leandro VG. Marko, by Arko, was born at family Vercauteren. Leandro VG comes from the familie Van Gorp.

In the stallion competition in Moorsele after the BWP stallion approvals, Inonstop vh Voorhof (Nonstop) placed third in the final standings.

Denis Lynch and Abbervail vh Dingenshof (Nonstop) were unbeatable this week in Braunschweig. After their victory in the 1.50m classes on Friday and Saturday, they also won the GP 1.55m Sunday afternoon.

What a year for Denis Lynch and his fifteen year old Abbervail vh Dingenshof (Nonstop). They win the 1.50m in Braunschweig after they did the same in Mechelen, Bordeaux and Göteborg.

The Nonstop-mare Istar vd Meerdijk, one of the winners of the Belgian Young Horse circuit 2013, has been sold to Kevin Staut and Frederic Bouvard. Staut placed second in the Young Horse competition in Braunschweig with his new mare yesterday. Agnes Van Daele is the breeder of this lovely mare.

The Arko III son Argento has won € 248.945. He now tops the Hippomundo world ranking based on internationally won prize money. Fibonacci, grandson of For Pleasure, is in second spot.

The eight year old mare Best de la Hart (Kashmir x Nonstop) placed fourth during the GP of Costa del Sol Tour in Mijas. From the same Nonstop mother Umbra vh Reigersdonck descend the GP horses Dark and Unpulsion de la Hart.

At Gothenburg Denis Lynch and Abbervail vh Dingenshof (Nonstop) have won the first1.50m class. Abbervail is in top shape. He also won this opening 1.50m at Bordeaux, placed second in the championat of Leipzig and won the GP of Mechelen.

John Whitaker and Argento (Arko III) also win the Longines Hong Kong Masters on Sunday, after they topped the field yesterday in the Gucci stakes. Just like yesterday, seven pairs jumped double clear. Whitaker this time edged out Henrik von Eckermann (Gotha) and Timothee Anciaume (Ryan des Hayettes.

Niels Knape en Abdel Saïd hebben er een geslaagd internationaal concours op zitten in Sentower Park te Opglabbeek. Ze tekenden allebei al voor winst eerder dit weekend en ook in de grote prijs vochten ze het onderling uit. Niels Knape van Stal Hendrix haalt het uiteindelijk van de Nederlands sprekende Egyptenaar Abdel Saïd. Frank Schuttert en Gipsy Boy (Nonstop) van Stal Lansink en Stal Lenssens werden vijfde. Gipsy Boy heeft als moeder Nanan vd Elshoeve (Lys de Darmen) en die gaf ook al de GP-paarden Thesaura, Valle d'Alezan en Secret d'Amour. Fokker is het duo De Breucker van Laer.

De Nonstop-nazaat Gayatri vh Welthof werd zonet vijfde in de grote prijs van Verona. Het ging om een nationaal concours. Gayatri is geboren uit een merrie van Jus de Pomme bij Lieve Weltjens.

Gitano van Berkenbroeck and Juan Carlos Garcia placed third in the first ever GP of Milano Winter Show in Vermezzo. 61,000 euro was divided for the ranked riders. The victory went to Belgium's Wilm Vermeir.

Abbervail vh Dingenshof lives his second youth. He had an amazing start of 2015. After his victory in the GP of Mechelen, Abbervail vh Dingenshof stays in top shape. Now he won the 1,50m in Bordeaux. Baloubet descendant B Once Z placed fourth with Katharina Offel.

Last year they won the GP of Amsterdam. Now John Whitaker has chosen to ride in Austria at the CSI3* Treffen of Gaston Glock. He took his top horse, the AES stallion Argento, and then John Whitaker always grabs at least one class. They won the 1.50m during the week. On Sunday in the GP they placed fifth after one down in the jump-off. Cousin William Whitaker kept the victory in the family.

A son of Arko III goes to final stage of BWP Stallion Approvals. His name is Marko van Spieveld. He's bred out of the half sister of Echo van Spieveld. His breeder is family Vercauteren. Paul Maïs is the owner. The final is only at the end of March.

Walter Lelie and Inonstop vh Voorhof (Nonstop) placed third in the Belgian Stallion Competition for seven year olds in Lier. Lelie has the horse only a few weeks under the saddle.

Juan Carlos Garcia and Gitano have won the Grand Prix of San Giovanni di Marignano. They jumped double clean and were faster than five other clears. The class was a 1.50m.

Christian Ahlmann wins the 'Championat von Leipzig'. In the jump-off he was a bit faster than Denis Lynch on Abbervail vh Dingeshof (Nonstop) and Philipp Weishaupt (Chico, Cordalme).

The Nonstop son Memphis vd Winterbeek was sold for 22.000 euro at Horse Auction Belgium, an event organized by Michel Spaas at Panhof in Peer, Belgium. The auction top horse by Catoki x Cornet Obolensky reached the number of 54.000 euro!

At one of the most respected national indoors of Germany, Katrin Eckermann and the Nonstop son Fonzie placed second in de GP 1.55m. In the jump-off, Eckermann had to go last, but she couldn't beat Toni Hassmann, the winner of this GP. Fonzie was born at Francesca Rossetto.

Denis Lynch and Abbervail vh Dingenshof (Nonstop x Jus de Pomme) have won the Grand Prix Topsport Vlaanderen at the event in Mechelen between christmas and New Year. The GP one day before the World Cup had ten horses in the jump-off. Jur Vrieling and Flashdance ended up second, before the first Belgian rider Pieter Devos (Dylano). The son of Diamant de Semilly, Utamaro d'Ecaussines won the Sires and became second in de World Cup with Joe Clee.

Jaak Vermeulen van het Dingenshof is zo één van die fokkers die zijn lot in de handen van Michel Spaas heeft gelegd. Zeventien jaar geleden kocht hij een aantal fokmerries bij Berkenbroeck en uiteraard waren die allen drachtig van de hengsten die daar ter dekking stonden. Vermeulen was meteen verheugd over zijn eerste fokproducten en bleef zijn zaad halen in Bree, ten huize Michel Spaas. Het bracht hem niet veel later het veulen Abbervail vh Dingenshof (Nonstop x Jus de Pomme), dat zou uitgroeien tot één van de beste springpaarden van het afgelopen lustrum.

Dit jaar won hij met zijn vaste ruiter Denis Lynch nog het Rabobank Kampioenschap van Rotterdam. De Wereldbeker van ’s Hertogenbosch staat op zijn palmares en ook in de GP-kwalificatie en in de grote prijs van het Pfingst Turnier van Wiesbaden gaf hij de concurrentie het nakijken in het begin van zijn carrière. In tussentijd stond hij ontelbare keren in de toptien.

Moeder Queen was vier jaar en drachtig van Quinten Van ’t Merelsnest (Darco), destijds een jonge hengst van Spaas, toen ze bij Jaak Vermeulen aankwam. Hij bleef met haar fokken, waardoor de merrie nooit in de sport terechtkwam. Het jaar dat Jaak Queen kocht, had ze al een Nonstop-merrieveulen gegeven bij Spaas. Una van Berkenbroeck zou in Groot-Brittannië als Fresh Direct Una door Tim Stockdale als speedpaard ingezet worden op de internationale wedstrijden. Ze klasseerde zich onder andere in Oslo, Birmingham, Vigo, Bordeaux, Nantes en Lyon. Het volgende veulen werd bij Jaak Vermeulen geboren en zou Vivaldo vh Dingenshof (Quinten Van ’t Merelsnest) heten. Na tussenstappen in Engeland en Duitsland, waar hij onder Armin Schäffer 1.40-1.50m sprong, is dat paard in de Verenigde Staten verzeild. Een jaar nadien gaf Queen de ruin Worrior vh Dingenshof (Nonstop). Onder de Brit Simon Buckley sprong Worrior succesvol internationaal grote prijzen. Op de Portugese twee- en driesterren GP’s van Comporta verdiende Worrior een tiental keer prijzengeld. Een jaar na de geboorte van Worrior had Queen Abberuail aan de voet en die zou nog beter worden als zijn voorgangers.

Dat het zo’n vaart zou lopen, had fokker Jaak Vermeulen nooit gedacht. ‘Anders had ik zeker zijn moeder niet verkocht. Die ging samen met haar veulen Abbervail aan de voet weg naar Frankrijk. Mijn vader was destijds paardenhandelaar en dat zakeninstinct heb ik van hem meegekregen. Je hebt zo van die mensen die van niets afscheid kunnen nemen en je hebt er die in alles handel zien. Ik ben van de tweede categorie. In principe mag bij mij iedere merrie en ieder veulen vertrekken. Ander en beter, denk ik altijd. Ik heb een veertigtal paarden en die fokkerij vormt slechts een nevenactiviteit. Het meeste tijd schenk ik aan mijn vleesveeboerderij. Paarden fokken doe ik nu twaalf jaar, voordien wilde ik geen paard meer op mijn erf. Ik was ze als kind beu gezien. Toen mijn eigen kinderen Mitch en Kevin om een pony vroegen, hebben de paarden terug hun weg gevonden naar onze familie. Intussen doet mijn jongste zoon Kevin niets anders meer dan paarden uit eigen fokkerij trainen. We hebben daarom op de boerderij een nieuwe buitenpiste aangelegd en een stapmolen geplaatst. Kevin leerde het vak bij LRV en reed ook een tijdje voor Peter Postelmans. Met Verona vh Dingenshof (Quinten vh Merelsnest), klasseerde hij zich meermaals in internationale grote prijzen.’
Abbervail kwam als veulen samen met zijn moeder in Frankrijk terecht op Haras de Beaufour van Eric Levallois. Via Luc Ringoot vond hij de weg terug naar België. Eddy Godecharle verkocht hem als zevenjarige aan Jos Lansink en Ecurie d’Ecaussinnes. Na een geslaagd internationaal debuut kocht familie Straumann de ruin voor Denis Lynch.

Jaak Vermeulen: ‘Ik heb geen enkele merrie overgehouden uit zijn moeder Queen. Bij Levallois heb ik nog geprobeerd een nakomeling terug te kopen, maar dat is me niet gelukt. Ik had de raad van Michel moeten opvolgen en met Queen van Berkenbroeck moeten verder fokken. Gedane zaken nemen geen keer. Gelukkig heb ik nu een merrie staan die misschien even goed kan worden. Het is een dochter van Perhaps van Berkenbroeck uit een Feinschnitt-dochter die ik ook bij Michel Spaas heb gehaald.’ Verder fokt Jaak Vermeulen tegenwoordig regelmatig met Arko III en hij zal ook in de toekomst nog met Michel samenwerken. ‘Ik heb het altijd goed met hem kunnen vinden. Hij gunde me enkele van zijn beste merries. Michel meent het oprecht goed met zijn fokkers’, aldus de landbouwer die in 2014 acht veulens had en opnieuw vijf merries drachtig heeft.

Rest ons nog één vraag. Hoe komt Jaak eigenlijk aan die vreemde stalnaam? ‘Toen ik klein was, kenden de mensen uit de buurt onze familienaam niet. Mijn grootvader heette Jacobus en mijn vader Albert. Als het over mijn vader ging, zeiden ze ‘Beirke van Jaak Dinges’. Ik kreeg de bijnaam ‘Jaak van Beirke Dinges’. Vandaar is onze stalnaam Dingenshof geworden.’
